Cryptomegaphone Editorial Policy

Last updated: November 19, 2025

Cryptomegaphone is committed to delivering accurate, independent, and responsible reporting on cryptocurrency, blockchain, digital assets, and emerging financial technologies. This Editorial Policy outlines the standards and principles that guide our newsroom and defines how we maintain trust with our audience.

1. Our Mission

At Cryptomegaphone, our mission is to provide impartial, high-quality journalism that helps readers navigate the rapidly evolving world of cryptocurrency and Web3.

We believe in the transformative potential of decentralized technologies but approach every subject with professional skepticism, data-driven analysis, and journalistic integrity. Our role is to:

  • Inform readers accurately
  • Hold industry actors accountable
  • Debunk misinformation
  • Illuminate both innovation and risks
  • Protect our audience from deceptive practices

We do not hype markets, promote unverified claims, or act as cheerleaders for any project, company, or token.

2. Editorial Independence

Cryptomegaphone maintains complete independence between its newsroom and its business operations.

Our editors and reporters:

  • Are not influenced by advertisers, partners, or sponsors
  • Do not provide coverage in exchange for investment, tokens, or other benefits
  • Do not allow commercial interests to dictate editorial decisions

Independent journalism is at the core of our identity.

3. Accuracy & Fact-Checking

Accuracy is the foundation of our reporting. All content undergoes rigorous verification.

Before publication, we confirm:

  • Factual correctness
  • Accurate use of market and on-chain data
  • Proper attribution of quotes and statistics
  • Verification from primary and/or multiple independent sources
  • Clear contextual accuracy (no misleading framing)

If information cannot be verified, we do not publish it.

4. Sourcing Standards

Cryptomegaphone follows internationally recognized sourcing standards.

4.1 On the Record (Default)

Statements may be published and attributed by name and title.

4.2 On Background

Information may be used without naming the source directly, but only with prior agreement and editor approval.

4.3 Off the Record

Information is not published or attributed. This must be declared before the conversation begins.

4.4 Anonymous Sources

Permitted only when:

  • The information is in the public interest
  • The source faces real risk (job, legal, safety)
  • The identity is known to the journalist AND an editor
  • Additional corroboration is obtained
  • The anonymous disclosure is explained to the reader when reasonable

We do not publish claims from unknown, unverifiable sources.

4.5 Reports From Other Media

We reference reputable outlets and clearly attribute their work.
We avoid amplifying stories based solely on anonymous sources elsewhere unless additional evidence exists.

5. Conflicts of Interest & Personal Holdings

Because crypto markets are highly volatile and speculative, our newsroom operates under strict rules:

  • Staff must disclose significant personal crypto holdings to an editor
  • Journalists may not write about assets, companies, or protocols in which they have a material stake
  • Staff may not accept tokens, NFTs, equity, or economic benefits in exchange for coverage
  • No staff member may trade an asset within 72 hours before or after publishing related coverage (anti-front-running rule)
  • Staff may not participate in private sales, seed rounds, or token presales of projects they may cover
  • Staff may not advise, consult for, or work for crypto projects in any form

Transparency is mandatory across all teams.

6. Use of Artificial Intelligence

AI tools may assist with research, language refinement, translation, or structural editing. However:

  • AI never replaces human editorial judgment
  • AI systems are not credited as authors
  • All AI-assisted content is reviewed by human editors
  • AI cannot introduce unverified factual claims
  • Significant AI use must be disclosed internally and, where relevant, to readers

Cryptomegaphone does not publish generative AI content without human oversight.

7. Editorial Tone & Style

Our editorial tone is:

  • Professional
  • Neutral
  • Concise
  • Data-driven

We avoid:

  • Sensationalism
  • Unverified predictions
  • Promotional language
  • Market cheerleading
  • Emotional exaggeration

All headlines are written to inform — never to mislead or overstate.

8. Coverage Principles

We cover topics including:

  • Bitcoin, Ethereum & major blockchains
  • L1/L2 ecosystems
  • DeFi, Web3, AI-crypto, gaming, and digital identity
  • Regulation, enforcement, compliance, and policy
  • Major exchange developments
  • Security, hacks, and investigations
  • Market structure, institutional activity, and macro trends

We do not publish:

  • Paid “shill” content
  • Project hype without data
  • Market predictions dressed as news
  • Rumor or speculation disguised as fact

Every news item must add value to the reader.

9. Embargo Policy

Cryptomegaphone will honor embargoes only if:

  • We have explicitly agreed to them in writing (email is sufficient)
  • The embargo provides adequate time for proper review of materials

Unsolicited “embargoed” content sent without agreement is not binding.

We may decline embargoes that appear manipulative or that restrict fair reporting.

10. Corrections, Updates & Accountability

If an error appears in our reporting, we correct it promptly.

Our correction process:

  • Errors are fixed transparently
  • A timestamped Correction or Update note is added
  • Significant errors may warrant a dedicated correction post
  • We do not retroactively hide changes

We do not remove articles except in cases of legal requirements, factual impossibility, or proven falsification.

11. Social Media Conduct

Cryptomegaphone journalists may use personal social media accounts, but:

  • They must not present personal opinions as Cryptomegaphone’s stance
  • They must not leak unpublished or confidential editorial information
  • They cannot accept compensation for posts
  • They may not promote assets they cover
  • They cannot post market-moving statements without verification

Only published articles represent our official reporting.

12. Sponsored Content & Advertising Standards

Cryptomegaphone accepts sponsored content only under strict conditions.

Sponsored content:

  • Is labeled clearly as Sponsored, Partner Content, or Press Release
  • Is produced by commercial teams, not by the editorial newsroom
  • Cannot influence independent reporting
  • Must comply with advertising, consumer protection, and regulatory standards
  • Is reviewed for misleading or harmful claims before publication

We reserve the right to reject sponsored material at our discretion.

13. Affiliate Links & Monetization Transparency

Cryptomegaphone may use affiliate links or referral partnerships.

  • These links never influence which stories we choose to cover
  • Affiliates do not receive preview access to editorial content
  • Affiliate relationships are disclosed where required
  • We aim for transparency while keeping the site free for readers

Editorial integrity remains our priority.

14. Plagiarism & Originality

All content must be original.

We strictly prohibit:

  • Copying from other outlets
  • Rewriting competitors’ work without adding original reporting
  • Using AI-generated text without fact-checking
  • Republishing previously published materials without attribution

We use internal tools to detect duplication, plagiarism, and AI misuse.

15. Legal & Ethical Compliance

Cryptomegaphone adheres to relevant laws regarding:

  • Defamation
  • Privacy
  • Market manipulation and insider trading
  • Advertising disclosures
  • Copyright and licensing

We cooperate with regulators and industry auditors when appropriate.

16. Reader Safety & Responsible Reporting

We do not provide financial advice.
We do not encourage speculative trading.
We do not suggest profit expectations or endorse investment decisions.

All content that touches financial matters includes disclaimers.

When reporting on hacks, exploits, or vulnerabilities, we avoid releasing technical details that could endanger users.

17. Community Integrity & Feedback

Readers can contact us at editorial@cryptomegaphone.com for:

  • Corrections
  • Feedback
  • Evidence-based challenges
  • Ethical concerns

We treat serious feedback with respect and transparency.

18. Our Commitment

Cryptomegaphone operates on a simple principle:
the trust of our readers is more important than views, clicks, sponsors, or market cycles.

We pledge to:

  • Report responsibly
  • Question claims rigorously
  • Protect our audience from misinformation
  • Maintain independence from commercial pressure
  • Deliver journalism that stands the test of time

This is the standard we uphold every day.
