DUBAI, March 13, 2026 — The TOKEN2049 conference scheduled to take place in Dubai at the end of April has been postponed until 2027, organizers said Friday, according to Reuters, citing regional uncertainty affecting safety, travel, and logistics.
In a statement published on the event’s website, organizers said the annual conference would be delayed until April 2027, with tickets remaining valid for the next scheduled event.
Organizers cite regional uncertainty
The announcement said the decision was taken because of “ongoing uncertainty in the region and its impact on safety, international travel, and logistics.”
The announcement did not explicitly reference the conflict involving Iran, though recent security incidents and regional tensions have disrupted travel and logistics across parts of the Middle East.
According to Dubai authorities, two drones fell near the emirate’s main airport earlier in the week, while debris from an intercepted drone caused minor damage to the facade of a building in central Dubai.
Dubai’s role in the crypto industry
Dubai has emerged in recent years as a major hub for digital-asset companies and investors, attracting exchanges, startups, and industry events.
The conference typically draws around 15,000 attendees, according to the conference website, and regularly features executives from major cryptocurrency firms.
Previous editions have included speakers such as executives from leading digital-asset companies including Binance, Tether, and Telegram, as well as other figures from the crypto industry.
Outlook for the event
Organizers said Dubai remains a key center for the digital-asset ecosystem despite the postponement.
“Dubai remains one of the most important hubs for the digital asset ecosystem. We remain confident in the city and its continued leadership as a global center for innovation and digital assets,” the organizers said.
The TOKEN2049 conference is typically held annually and has become one of the largest global gatherings for the cryptocurrency industry.
