Ripple announced that it has received full approval of its Electronic Money Institution (EMI) license from Luxembourg’s financial regulator, the Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier (CSSF), enabling it to provide regulated electronic money services across the European Union.

Luxembourg regulator grants full EMI authorisation

The company said the approval follows preliminary clearance announced last month, with all regulatory conditions set by the CSSF now satisfied.

Ripple stated that the license allows it to expand its regulated payments infrastructure and electronic money services across EU markets.

Expansion of Ripple’s European regulatory footprint

Cassie Craddock, Managing Director for the UK and Europe at Ripple, described the license as a milestone that strengthens the firm’s presence in European financial markets.

Ripple said the Luxembourg authorisation adds to its broader global regulatory footprint, including a recent Electronic Money Institution license and crypto-asset registration from the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority.
