PayPal has agreed to acquire Cymbio, a Tel Aviv-based commerce orchestration platform, as part of its strategy to expand capabilities in agentic and AI-enabled commerce, according to a PayPal press release.
The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. The acquisition is expected to close in the first half of 2026, subject to customary regulatory approvals and closing conditions.
Cymbio platform to be integrated into PayPal commerce stack
Founded in Israel, Cymbio provides infrastructure that allows merchants and brands to distribute product catalogs across multiple digital sales channels, including AI-powered shopping interfaces. The platform enables real-time synchronization of inventory, pricing, orders, and fulfillment across marketplaces, social platforms, and emerging agentic commerce environments.
PayPal said the Cymbio technology will be integrated into its existing merchant and commerce offerings, supporting automated product discovery and checkout flows across AI-driven interfaces.
Strategic focus on agentic commerce
PayPal described the acquisition as part of a broader effort to position its payments infrastructure for agentic commerce, where software agents powered by artificial intelligence can search, recommend, and complete transactions on behalf of consumers.
The company has been expanding its commerce tools to support new interaction models beyond traditional web and mobile checkout, as AI-enabled assistants become increasingly embedded in consumer shopping experiences.
PayPal’s broader digital payments strategy
The acquisition follows a series of initiatives by PayPal aimed at modernizing its commerce stack and expanding merchant reach across new digital surfaces. PayPal operates a global payments network and provides wallet, checkout, and merchant services across multiple jurisdictions.
Cymbio’s team is expected to join PayPal following the completion of the transaction.
