BRUSSELS, March 12 — The European Union’s six largest economies have backed plans to centralise supervision of capital markets across the bloc, including oversight of crypto-asset service providers, according to a letter from finance ministers seen by Reuters.
WASHINGTON, March 11 — The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission said Wednesday they had entered into a Memorandum of Understanding to guide coordination and collaboration between the two agencies and support lawful innovation, market integrity, and investor and customer protection.
Major U.S. banks increased their spending on lobbying in Washington by around 12% last year, as policy debates over financial regulation intensified across Congress and federal agencies, Reuters reported.
The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission announced on January 12 that its chairman has launched the agency’s Innovation Advisory Committee, according to a CFTC press release (Release 9167-26) published on the Commission’s website.
